Sizing & Fit
What height do I need to be to ride an electric bike?
Most electric bikes are designed for riders 5'1" (155 cm) or taller. However, proper fit depends on multiple factors including inseam length, riding style, and specific bike model. Step-through frame designs often accommodate shorter riders, while larger models work well for riders over 6'2".

Assembly & Setup
Do electric bikes from ELV MOTORS require assembly?
Customers may choose our professional assembly service or assemble the electric bike themselves. With professional assembly, our technicians fully assemble, tune, and safety-check the bike, including the brakes, drivetrain, tires, handlebars, and electrical system. We also adjust the bike for the rider and demonstrate its features, helping ensure a safer, smoother, and more comfortable riding experience.
What should I know before my first ride?
Before your first ride, fully charge the battery (initial charge takes 4 to 6 hours), check tire pressure, and test the brakes. Familiarize yourself with pedal assist levels and throttle operation. Start in a safe, open area to practice accelerating, braking, and turning. Electric bikes are heavier than traditional bikes, which affects handling and braking distance. Always wear a helmet and use lights when riding at dawn, dusk, or night.
To maximize range, use lower pedal assist levels, maintain proper tire pressure, and pedal consistently rather than relying solely on throttle. Most batteries fully recharge in 4 to 6 hours.
Weather & Durability
Are electric bikes waterproof? Can I ride in the rain?
Electric bikes are water-resistant but not fully waterproof. Motors, batteries, and controllers typically have IPX4 or higher ratings, meaning they handle splashes and light rain during normal riding. Avoid riding through deep water, submerging any components, or pressure-washing electrical parts.
After riding in wet conditions, wipe down the bike and store it in a dry location. Let the bike dry before charging. Wet conditions also reduce tire traction and braking performance.
